Terms of Use
Last updated: April 12, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of SnapSignal (“Service”), operated by SnapSignal (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using our Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use SnapSignal.
1. Description of Service
SnapSignal is a product analytics tool that helps founders and developers understand how users move through their product. The Service operates in two modes:
- Analysis Mode — SnapSignal reads your app’s publicly accessible website and optionally reads codebase files you provide to identify user funnels and suggest tracking event schemas. This mode is stateless: no data is retained after analysis.
- Analytics Mode — Once you install the SnapSignal-generated tracking code in your app, SnapSignal collects behavioral event data from your end users and displays it in a funnel analytics dashboard.
2. Intellectual Property — Your Code
SnapSignal does not steal, copy, retain, or claim ownership of your code. Providing your codebase to SnapSignal for analysis is a limited, read-only license to process your code for the sole purpose of generating funnel previews and event schemas for you. This license is non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, and terminates at the end of your session. No intellectual property rights are transferred to SnapSignal at any time.
Specifically, SnapSignal:
- Does not copy or permanently store your source code files
- Does not reproduce, distribute, sublicense, or sell any portion of your code
- Does not use your code to train, fine-tune, or improve AI or machine learning models
- Does not share your code with any third party
- Processes your code in memory only, discarding it immediately after the analysis session ends
All outputs generated by SnapSignal from your code — including funnel diagrams, event schemas, and tracking implementation prompts — belong to you. SnapSignal makes no claim to any output generated from your data.
By submitting your code, you represent and warrant that you own it or have explicit authorization to submit it for analysis.
3. Tracking Mechanism and Analytics Mode
Installation constitutes consent
By merging or deploying the SnapSignal-generated tracking code into your production environment, you agree that SnapSignal may collect, transmit, and store behavioral event data from your app’s end users for the purpose of generating analytics results and funnel graphs in your dashboard. You acknowledge that this data storage is necessary for the Service to function — SnapSignal cannot display dashboard results without it.
What you are installing
The tracking code generated by SnapSignal is a lightweight event instrumentation layer that sends named behavioral events (e.g., “page_viewed”, “button_clicked”) to SnapSignal’s data ingestion servers. These events are stored and used exclusively to compute and display your analytics dashboard.
Your obligations upon installation
By installing the tracking mechanism, you agree to:
- Update your own app’s privacy policy to disclose that SnapSignal tracking is active and to describe what data is collected and why
- Obtain any consent required from your end users under applicable law (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, or other relevant regulations) before behavioral data is sent to SnapSignal
- Implement an appropriate consent management mechanism (e.g., cookie banner, opt-in flow) if required by the laws applicable to your users
- Not configure the tracking code to transmit sensitive personal data, health data, financial account information, government identifiers, or authentication credentials
- Honor any end-user opt-out requests by disabling or removing the tracking mechanism for those users
SnapSignal as Data Processor
In Analytics Mode, you are the Data Controller and SnapSignal is the Data Processor for your end users’ behavioral data. SnapSignal processes that data only on your behalf and only for the purposes described in this agreement. We will enter into a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with you upon request for GDPR compliance purposes.
Removing the tracking mechanism
You may remove the SnapSignal tracking code from your app at any time. Removal will stop future data collection. To delete previously collected data, contact us and we will delete all behavioral event data associated with your account within 30 days.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use SnapSignal only for lawful purposes. You may not:
- Submit URLs or codebases that you do not own or have explicit permission to analyze
- Configure the tracking mechanism to collect data that you are not legally permitted to collect
- Configure the tracking mechanism to collect PII, health data, or financial information without the appropriate legal basis and safeguards
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or extract SnapSignal’s underlying AI models, algorithms, or infrastructure
- Resell or sublicense access to the Service or your SnapSignal dashboard without our written consent
- Use the Service to analyze competitors’ private or proprietary systems without authorization
- Submit malicious code or content designed to harm our systems
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
5. Accuracy of Outputs
Funnel previews, event schemas, tracking suggestions, and dashboard results generated by SnapSignal are powered by AI analysis and provided for informational purposes. They are illustrative and may not perfectly reflect your actual user behavior. You are responsible for reviewing, validating, and testing all SnapSignal outputs before relying on them for business decisions or implementing them in production systems.
SnapSignal does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any output, dashboard result, or recommendation.
6. Your Content and License to SnapSignal
You retain all ownership of content, code, and data you submit to SnapSignal. You grant SnapSignal a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Process your website content and codebase files for the sole purpose of generating analysis outputs for you (Analysis Mode)
- Collect, store, and process your end users’ behavioral event data for the sole purpose of displaying analytics results in your dashboard (Analytics Mode)
These licenses do not permit SnapSignal to use your code or data for any other purpose, including AI model training, marketing, or sharing with third parties.
7. Intellectual Property — SnapSignal’s Service
All aspects of the SnapSignal Service — including its design, AI models, algorithms, interface, and branding — are the intellectual property of SnapSignal. Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of SnapSignal’s intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SnapSignal and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or relating to:
- Your use or misuse of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your failure to obtain required consent from your end users before installing the tracking mechanism
- Your violation of applicable data protection laws in connection with your use of the Service
- Any claim by a third party that content or code you submitted to SnapSignal infringes their intellectual property rights
- Your infringement of any third-party rights
9. Privacy
Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE SERVICE IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SNAPSIGNAL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR REPUTATIONAL HARM — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY AND ALL CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $100 USD.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU IN FULL.
12. Free Access and Service Changes
SnapSignal may offer free access during early product stages. We reserve the right to modify, limit, or discontinue free access at any time. We may also change features, pricing, or the terms of availability at our discretion with reasonable notice where possible.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. You may request deletion of your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be subject to binding arbitration or the jurisdiction of applicable courts, depending on your location and applicable law.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
